Victorian Agency for Health Information (VAHI) and Safer Care Victoria (SCV) were established as part of Victorian government reforms to overhaul quality and safety across Victoria’s public healthcare system, in response to ‘Targeting zero, the review of hospital safety & quality assurance in Victoria’.
Both agencies require a shared digital presence that will serve as an engagement platform for patients and clinicians, and also a clinical portal as recommended in Targeting zero report. Salsa Digital, a development house specialising in Drupal CMS was engaged to build the new website.
I came into the project to provide design aspect for the new website, starting from discovery process to delivering hi-fidelity designs for Salsa Digital to build. I facilitated discovery workshops, established the Information Architecture of the new website and carried out wireframing, prototyping, and design work.
We engaged key stakeholders from both agencies to take part in discovery workshops so we can uncover and confirm their needs and requirements. Both VAHI & SCV are driven by the same purpose, but they perform different functions. Also, it was the first time stakeholders from both organisations ever sat together in the same room. So the workshops provide excellent opportunities to find any overlap, commonalities (or differences) between the two organisations.
Some of the key activities done in the workshops:
The outcome of discovery workshops gave directions on new site navigation, different content types, content pages & landing pages needed. We also reviewed other government websites & the agencies' counterparts in other states for reference.
Getting website’s look & feel finalised took a bit of time as well considering both organisations had separate brand guidelines and stakeholders had different opinions on the aesthetics. A logo lockup with dual branding & new domain name was required.
